New research fresh out of the University of California, Berkeley, shows that who you are, where you live can determine your home’s ecological and carbon footprint.


ecological footprintThat data can also give you a good indication of which eco-changes would be most beneficial for your house hold and your income.

The report shows that an active eco-friendly building policy can positively influence every buildings carbon saving potential and that potential can be significant.

With that in mind our friends at Urban Realm in association with Carbon Trust Scotland, has announced that it is now welcoming entries to the Low Carbon Building Award 2013
 

“Scotland’s construction industry is being urged to take advantage of the most pre-eminent sustainability awards in the business – and get 2013 off to the best start possible, by entering the Low Carbon Building Awards 2013″

 
The Competition has been conceived as a means to raise awareness of sustainability issues and to recognise the world beating work and being undertaken within the building sector in Scotland.
The competition is open to anyone who has delivered a new build or refurbishment project which embodies low carbon principles.

Shortlisted schemes will gain public recognition of their low carbon building and get some great free publicity as well as serve as case studies for the continued improvement of Scottish built stock. The eventual winners will also receive a prestigious award
